Apprenticeship Programme Lead (Property Maintenance Operative, Level 2) – Derby

More About Your Role

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver our Property Maintenance Operative (PMO) Level 2 apprenticeship programme for the housing sector at Places for People.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver, and assess engaging apprenticeship programmes, equipping trainees with practical skills, technical knowledge, and customer-focused behaviours to maintain and improve homes and communities.
  • Shape the curriculum collaboratively with employers, partners, and colleagues, ensuring relevance, innovation, and alignment with the evolving housing sector needs.
  • Support apprentices from onboarding to achievement through coaching, mentoring, and developmental feedback.
  • Deliver high-quality learner experiences, drive strong achievement outcomes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Travel required between Derby HQ and employer sites/locations as needed.

Essential Criteria

  • Industry qualification or experience: Level 2 in Property Maintenance, Plastering, Construction, or a related trade discipline, with substantial hands-on experience in housing repairs, maintenance, or responsive maintenance environments.
  • Occupational expertise: Strong knowledge of property repairs, maintenance operations, customer service, health and safety, and best practices in the housing sector.
  • Training/mentoring background: Experience in workplace training, teaching, coaching, or mentoring, including designing structured learning, delivering practical workshops, and assessing performance (with feedback).
  • Teaching qualification: Holds (or commits to obtaining) a recognised teaching/assessment qualification (e.g., AET, TAQA, CAVA).
  • Safeguarding & inclusion: Understanding of safeguarding, equity, and quality standards in apprenticeship environments.

Desirable (but not mandatory):

  • Experience in social housing, responsive repairs, void property management, or planned maintenance.
  • Occupational competence in plastering and internal repairs.
  • Prior experience delivering PMO apprenticeship programmes or similar.
  • Proficiency in digital learning platforms and learner management systems.
