London Climate Hire is a specialist HVAC rental provider offering complete turnkey heating and cooling solutions across London and the surrounding counties. With a strong local customer base, the company focuses on minimizing downtime during hire periods and emergency situations through rapid, expert support.
Experienced heating and cooling engineers assess each site to select and configure the right equipment, supported by in-house manufacturing that enables bespoke, space-efficient systems. London Climate Hire manages power connections, building access, logistics, commissioning, and system integration under one umbrella, reducing the need for multiple subcontractors.
The fleet of boilers, chillers, heaters, portable air-conditioning, generators, and ancillaries is chosen for efficiency and reliability, with engineers available 24/7/365 to provide straightforward technical guidance.
Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid Application Engineer role based in Bishop's Stortford, with flexibility for some work from home. The Application Engineer will support the design, selection, and implementation of HVAC rental solutions for customer sites, working closely with heating and cooling engineers and the operations team.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Reviewing customer enquiries
- Performing technical assessments
- Specifying suitable equipment configurations
- Supporting system integration with electrical and mechanical infrastructure
The role involves preparing application drawings and documentation, coordinating testing and commissioning activities, and providing technical support during installation, operation, and troubleshooting.
The Application Engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement of equipment applications, assist with bespoke solutions from the manufacturing facility, and help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Qualifications
- Strong Technical Support skills, including diagnosing system issues, advising customers and colleagues, and providing clear, practical solutions for HVAC applications.
- Software Development or controls-related skills, such as working with control systems, configuration tools, or basic programming for monitoring and optimization of HVAC equipment.
- Electrical Engineering skills, including understanding power distribution, mains connections, wiring, and electrical safety standards relevant to HVAC systems.
- Mechanical Engineering skills, including knowledge of heating and cooling principles, pipework, pumps, chillers, boilers, and mechanical integration on customer sites.
- Testing skills, including commissioning, functional testing, performance verification, and documenting results to ensure reliable operation of deployed systems.
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree, diploma, or apprenticeship in engineering (mechanical, electrical, building services, or related field) are highly beneficial.
- Experience with HVAC systems, rental or temporary plant, and site-based engineering work is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and a customer-focused mindset are essential.
