Applications Engineer - Robot
£50-55k + Car

A fantastic opportunity for an Applications Engineer to join a leading automation engineering business delivering advanced Robotics and Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) solutions for industrial and logistics applications.
Working on cutting-edge automation projects, you'll be responsible for developing software, configuring robotic systems and commissioning complete automation solutions.
Applications Engineer – The Role:
- Develop and commission software for bespoke robotic and automation systems
- Configure and program industrial robots and collaborative robotic applications
- Develop PLC and HMI software for automated systems
- Create and optimise robot motion programs
- Support the programming and integration of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and fleet management systems
- Commission automation systems both in-house and at customer sites
- Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams throughout project delivery
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project efficiency and profitability
- Travel extensively to support installations, commissioning and customer acceptance activities

Applications Engineer – What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience of automation software engineering, ideally within robotics or logistics automation
- Strong PLC programming and HMI development experience
- Experience commissioning industrial robotic systems is essential
- Knowledge of robot motion programming and industrial automation software
- Experience with AMRs, fleet management or mobile robotics would be advantageous
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational and time management skills
- Customer-focused with strong communication and relationship-building abilities
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with a commitment to continuous improvement
- Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline, with a passion for developing new technologies
- Willingness to travel extensively for customer projects (50%+)

This role is hybrid with c1-2 days in the office, and the rest of your time either on site with customers or working from home. Ideal locations would include Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, West Bromwich, Oldbury, Halesowen, Stourbridge, Cannock, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, Tamworth, Stafford, Telford, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Coventry, Rugby, Worcester, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Stoke on Trent, Shrewsbury and Leicester.
