Application Manager

Application Manager – European Technology Team

Location: Ashford, Kent / Hemel Hempstead (Hybrid, 3 days in-office per week) Contract Type: Full-time, permanent Reports To: Product Support Manager

About the Role

As the European Application Manager, you will play a critical role within the European Technology Team, working closely with both Global and European Technology leadership as well as process owners across the European markets.

This senior role involves ensuring high availability and reliability of application services for the European businesses, with responsibility for daily operations, incident management, and continuous improvement. You will lead and coordinate a blended team of internal and external resources to deliver exemplary application support, overseeing patching, maintenance, upgrades, and compliance to regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building strong relationships with business stakeholders to share service information, align service delivery with business objectives, and incorporate feedback for process enhancements.
  • Hybrid working approach requiring flexibility for office attendance (Ashford/Kent or Hemel Hempstead) and travel across Europe as needed.

Language requirements: Strong English and French proficiency.


Key Responsibilities

Incident & Service Management

  • Daily handling of incoming application cases and incidents in the assigned functional area.
  • Incident management for Priority 2 and Priority 3 incidents (Priority 1 cases will follow MIM process).
  • Coordination of day-to-day IT activities for the functional area.

Technical & Operational Leadership

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, suppliers, and project teams to deliver application support.
  • Provide technical expertise in working groups, including system-specific solutions.
  • Oversee system maintenance, minor development, patching, and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (SOX, GDPR, Cybersecurity).
  • Develop, document, and maintain operational procedures, standards, and working methods.

Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with vendors on operational improvements, monitoring, alerting, and participation in QBRs and vendor forums.
  • Lead and coordinate IT and stakeholder engagement for application compliance.

Testing & Support

  • Conduct functional and non-functional testing (system testing, integration testing, regression testing).
  • Support business planning and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for application systems, providing strategic guidance to meet business needs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participation in an on-call rota to ensure 24/7 service availability.

About You

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of application development, maintenance, and operational processes (including patching, bug fixes, upgrades, security assessments).
  • Breadth of technical expertise in application and integration layers, with servers, operating systems, databases, and dependencies.
  • ITIL V4 knowledge and experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (O365) and IT security protocols.
  • Experience in risk management and compliance frameworks.

Documentation & Leadership

  • Ability to write clear technical documentation and improve processes.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional and European teams, driving initiatives independently and collaboratively.
