Application Security Engineer - AI (Contract) London (Hybrid) | Financial Services/Investment Management

Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced Application Security Engineer to join a high-profile project focused on building and deploying an AI-powered security platform to scan internal codebases for vulnerabilities. Working closely with Engineering and DevSecOps teams, you'll help integrate AI-driven security capabilities into the software development lifecycle to improve automated vulnerability detection and remediation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy AI-driven application security solutions.
  • Integrate automated code scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Perform secure code reviews and vulnerability assessments.
  • Work with development teams to remediate security issues.
  • Support threat modelling and secure SDLC initiatives.
  • Evaluate and optimise AI/LLM tools for application security.

Required Skills

  • Strong background in Application Security / DevSecOps.
  • Experience with SAST, SCA, DAST and secure code review.
  • Good understanding of OWASP Top 10 and secure coding principles.
  • Experience with CI/CD and modern software development practices.
  • Knowledge of one or more programming languages (Python, Java, Go, JavaScript or C#).
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP).

Desirable

  • Experience with AI/LLMs applied to security.
  • Familiarity with tools such as OpenAI, LangChain or similar AI frameworks.
  • Previous experience in financial services or enterprise environments.
