Job Description

Job Title – Applications Solution Architect
Location – UK (Virtual)
Type – Full-Time, Permanent

DXC supports one of the most complex technology estates within the London Insurance Market, comprising more than 120 interconnected business applications operating across multiple technology platforms, cloud environments, databases, integration services, and legacy systems. We are seeking an experienced Solution / Application Architect to lead a multi-year application modernisation and technology refresh programme.

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and delivering application upgrade strategies, platform remediation activities, middleware and service bus modernisation, data transformation initiatives, and identity and access management improvements across the estate. This is a highly visible architecture leadership role requiring an individual who can operate across business, application, data, integration, infrastructure, and security domains whilst providing technical governance and direction to multiple concurrent programmes.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead technical assessments of legacy applications and identify upgrade, replacement, retirement, or re-platforming options.
  • Develop transition architectures and migration plans aligned with strategic business objectives.
  • Ensure all applications remain supported, secure, compliant, and aligned with vendor roadmaps.
  • Establish application lifecycle management standards and technical debt reduction plans.
  • Assess existing integration platforms, service buses, middleware, and messaging infrastructures; lead upgrades and migration activities involving IBM MQ, Apache Camel / FUSE.
  • Review and document current authentication and authorisation mechanisms across the application estate.
  • Identify opportunities to improve user experience and strengthen security controls through modern identity solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions across legacy and modern platforms.
  • Produce and maintain high-level design (HLD), low-level design (LLD), and transition architectures.
  • Participate in Design Authorities and Architecture Review Boards.
  • Ensure solutions comply with DXC standards, security policies, regulatory obligations, and operational requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural assurance to project teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
