About the Role: Enterprise Applications Support Engineer (PLM/CAD)

Position: On-site Enterprise Applications Support Engineer specialising in PLM (Teamcenter/Windchill), CAD, and SAP systems.

Core Responsibility: Be the hands-on first-line support expert for engineering and manufacturing applications, ensuring seamless stability and proactive system upkeep. Own incidents from reporting through resolution, collaborating closely with engineering, production, and IT teams. This role bridges site operations with the wider IT and Enterprise Applications organisation, fostering application-driven innovation in a mission-critical industrial environment.

Key Objectives

  • Deliver hands-on first-line application support for Palm (Teamcenter/Windchill) and CAD tools, maintaining process solvency across industrial design and manufacturing workflows.
  • Develop deep, site-specific expertise: diagnosing system issues, understanding configurations, integrations, and dependencies in PLM, CAD, and SAP environments.
  • Escalate problems efficiently to central application specialists, tracking issues to final resolution.
  • Build rapport with engineering, manufacturing, and operational teams, capturing application use patterns and recommending improvements.
  • Partner with Mult pleasant Enterprise Applications teams and Site IT Business Partner to align priorities, share knowledge, and optimise processes.
  • Engage in digital transformation and process optimisation projects across the organisation.
  • Document procedures, troubleshooting guides, and known issues for seamless service continuity.
  • Support the wider Navantia UK team, including occasional travel to other production sites as part of cross-industry knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide on-site, hands-on support for PLM (Teamcenter / Windchill) and CAD systems, acting as a bridge between users (engineering and manufacturing) and broader IT teams.
  • Own incident requests and escalation workflows: track from initial report to final system resolution.
  • Diagnose complex system crashes, performance bottlenecks or errors, and collaborate with central application specialists to implement fixes.
  • New configurations and dependency mapping across workflows to reduce engineering downtime.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Relations

  • Strengthen relationships with site engineers, production managers, and process owners to understand real-world application challenges.
  • Recommend efficiency enhancements based on resulting observations (e.g. user errors, outdated configurations).
  • Partner with IT’s Enterprise Applications team to enforce best practices and support shared knowledge repositories.
  • Serve with cross-site troubleshooting agility, travelling as needed to assist global team efforts.

Process Improvement

  • Identify support gaps and collaborates on process workarounds or user process training when appropriate.
  • Actively contributes to digital transformation initiatives, joining site-based or cross-functional initiatives focused on system modernization or cloud adoption.
  • Maintain documentation for standard operating procedures, resolution steps for recurring issues, and help desk knowledge bases.

Requirements & Qualifications

What You Must Demonstrate

Technical Expertise

✅ Proven first-line application engineer expertise in PLM/CAD tools (e.g. Teamcenter, Windchill, Siemens/Catia). ✅ Experience resolving issues across ERP and PLM integrations, particularly in SAP. ✅ Hands-on troubleshooting experience across engineering and production environments, owning full incident lifecycle workflows (logging through completion). ✅ Deep working knowledge of engineering workflows: • Design processes • Engineering Change Management • Configuration Management ✅ Practical experience supporting complex manufacturing processes and high-availability environments with minimal downtime.
