Application Support Engineer
Technical Application Support Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid)
We’re partnering with a fast-growing technology company seeking a Technical Application Support Engineer to ensure seamless operation of complex software deployments within live customer environments.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates who excel in:
- Debugging technical issues
- Working with live systems
- Supporting mission-critical software deployment with tangible outcomes
This is not a conventional helpdesk or ticket-based role. Your focus will be on proactively safeguarding deployment reliability, addressing performance issues, and delivering actionable insights into system health.

You will thrive in a role bridging software, data, integrations, telemetry, and customer support.
The Role
Work collaboratively with Customer Success, Engineering, and Data teams to:
- Monitor live deployments for uptime, performance and SLA adherence.
- Detect issues early via logs, metrics, telemetry, and operational data.
- Provide technical expertise in system behaviour and resolutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactive Monitoring:
- Track live customer deployments (uptime, performance, SLAs).

Incident Investigation:
- Diagnose anomalies across data pipelines, real-time integrations, connectivity, deployments and system outputs.

Customer Engagement:
- Serve as the technical escalation contact for deployment issues.

Resolution Prioritisation:
- Resolve issues independently or escalate to engineering with clear diagnostic evidence.

Stakeholder Briefing:
- Write concise technical summaries for internal teams/customers.

Operational Support:
- Assist with customer reporting, recurring reviews, and service assessments.

Root Cause Analysis:
- Conduct post-incident reviews and address recurring issues.

Knowledge Management:
- Create/develop runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge-base documentation.

Process Improvement:
- Identify gaps in reliability, monitoring, and support workflows.
Required Experience & Skills
Ideally, you’ll bring 2–5 years in one or more of the following:
- Application, software, or technical support within customer/operational environments.
- Troubleshooting in interconnected systems (e.g., microservices, APIs, cloud architectures).
- Technical writing & customer-facing discussions.
- Knowledge of:
- Technologies: SQL, JSON, Python, Excel (or similar).
- Tools: Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Teams.
- Ability to work autonomously while leveraging team expertise.

Preferred Background
While not mandatory, familiarity with the following is a bonus:
- Implementation or deployment support (e.g., SaaS rollouts).
- Observability, monitoring, or telemetry tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Cloud infrastructure, Linux, Docker, or scripting.
- Industrial IoT, operational systems, or analytics-driven software.
