Application Support Engineer – Workday

Location: Leeds – 2-3 days a week onsite
Department: IT / Digital Solutions
Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 per annum

Overview

A global professional services organisation is seeking an Application Support Engineer to support and enhance its HR systems environment, with a primary focus on Workday and related SaaS platforms. The role involves maintaining system performance, resolving issues, supporting users, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

Application Support

  • Provide 1st–3rd line support for Workday and other business applications
  • Troubleshoot system, configuration, and integration issues
  • Manage incidents, service requests, and system monitoring activities
  • Perform root cause analysis and coordinate with vendors or technical teams where required
  • Support application performance optimisation and service continuity

User & Operational Support

  • Manage user access, permissions, and onboarding activities
  • Support end users with queries and best-practice guidance
  • Conduct access and security audits
  • Provide operational support during key business periods

System Maintenance & Releases

  • Assist with upgrades, patches, testing, and release management
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Maintain awareness of platform updates and roadmap changes

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain support documentation and knowledge base articles
  • Support reporting, dashboards, and data validation activities
  • Assist with integration monitoring and data quality checks

Continuous Improvement & Governance

  • Identify recurring issues and recommend process or system improvements
  • Support automation and workflow enhancement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with IT governance, security, and change management processes
  • Participate in audit and compliance activities

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a liaison between business users, technical teams, and third-party vendors
  • Provide regular updates on incidents, changes, and support activities

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting Workday HCM environments
  • Strong understanding of Workday configuration, security, and data management
  • Experience supporting SaaS applications and integrations
  • Familiarity with ITSM/ticketing tools and ITIL processes
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams

Desirable

  • Additional Workday certifications or modules
  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related experience

Working Pattern

  • Hybrid working model with 2–3 office days per week
  • Occasional travel may be required
