About HiSpeed Ltd.

HiSpeed Ltd. designs, develops and tests tailor-made, highly efficient compact electric powertrains, drives, machines and inverters for automotive, aerospace and robotics applications.

We are looking for an ambitious Applications Engineer to join our Commercial team in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

This is a hybrid technical-commercial role for an experienced electrical drives engineer (motors or power electronics) who is an excellent communicator and presenter and is excited to be the technical face of HiSpeed Ltd. in front of customers, partners, and at industry events. This position reports to the Head of Commercial.

Tasks

  • Act as a primary technical interface for prospective and existing customers across automotive, aerospace and robotics sectors.
  • Lead front-end commercial engagements, including RFQ qualification, technical discovery, and customer-facing presentations
  • Respond rapidly and credibly to customer technical queries related to our electric drives and sub-components
  • Run quick-turn studies and derivative simulations using HiSpeed Ltd.'s design tools (FEA, CFD, internal scripts) to support proposals and customer conversations
  • Develop high-impact technical presentations, white papers, and demonstration material that communicate HiSpeed Ltd.'s differentiative IP
  • Represent HiSpeed Ltd. at trade shows, conferences, and customer technical days
  • Build and maintain a structured pipeline of opportunities and own conversion through to contract handover with the engineering team
  • Work closely with the Head of Commercial on pricing, contracting, and IP-sensitive technical disclosures
  • Feed market and competitor intelligence back into HiSpeed Ltd.'s product roadmap

  • M.Sc. in Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • Demonstrable experience designing & delivering electrical machines
  • Strong understanding of inverter-machine interaction, control strategies, system-level performance and mechanical system integration
  • Exposure to automotive and/or aerospace customer requirements
  • Experience with automotive OEM/Tier-1 RFQ processes
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English, able to translate complex technical content into compelling customer narratives
  • Confident, polished presenter, comfortable in front of customers & C-suite executives

Desirable Skills

  • MATLAB and Python skills for derivative studies and parametric analyses
  • Experience handling NDAs, IP protection, and export-controlled technical disclosures
