Applications Engineer - Robotics

Industry: Robotics

Location: Midlands (hybrid working - home / office / customer sites)

Salary: £48 - 55k + company vehicle and other additional benefits

Job Purpose

To provide high quality technical support on our robotic product range internally to our Sales and Service teams and externally to our Customers and System Integrators. Please be aware that support can be either remotely or on site throughout the UK, Ireland & Region North East Europe.

Job Overview

  • Support Customers on all technical aspects both remotely and on-site
  • Support various stakeholders with feasibility and simulation activities
  • Provide technical support to Sales & Service Teams
  • Integrate and work with the existing Service and Applications Team
  • 2-way communication with Management
  • Reporting as required

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide help and assistance to our Customers in the use, programming and integration of our robots both remotely and on-site.
  • Support our Customers and Sales Team on all technical aspects of product range either remotely or on-site.
  • Propose and/or validate automation concepts and solutions adapted to our robot using different technologies such as tooling, vision, conveyor tracking and safety as examples.
  • Assess feasibility of robotic proposals using simulation software including but not limited to cycle time analysis and payload verification.
  • Test ‘Proof of Principles’ by using the suite of demonstration robots.
  • Promote the full range of robots and available software applications.
  • To become a technical lead in the specification and utilization of the robotics division product range
  • To support exhibitions as a specialist.
  • To upskill other divisional members as required
  • Support the Training Manager in delivery of customer training as required

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid role between home base, office and Customer sites as required.
  • Company vehicle will be provided.
  • Potential for occasional international travel.
  • All necessary IT equipment – including laptop and mobile phone shall be provided.

  • Please be aware that parts of the onboarding/training may take place in the North East Europe Robotics Region – this anticipated to be Germany.

Skills & Qualifications

  • BTEC Higher Level/Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or similar is desirable but proven experience will also be considered
  • High-level programming knowledge and experience, preferably with robots.
  • Previous experience of working with:
    • 3D CAD Packages
    • 4- & 6-axis automation
    • Electrical installations
    • PLC’s and fieldbus technologies
  • Ability to analyse both Company and Customer drawings.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Strong time management skills including being able to work independently and to deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • A full UK driving license.
