Applications Manager – UK

About the Role

This role sits within the Group Applications team and plays a key role in shaping and supporting the organisation’s applications strategy.

You will oversee the implementation, configuration and ongoing management of SaaS applications across the business, ensuring systems are:

  • Fit for purpose
  • Well-integrated
  • Aligned with group standards and local requirements

You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to:

  • Optimise applications
  • Support users
  • Ensure systems continue to evolve in line with business needs

Key Responsibilities

Applications Management & Strategy

  • Support the ongoing development and optimisation of the Group applications landscape
  • Assess and evaluate existing systems to ensure they remain aligned to business needs
  • Support the selection and implementation of new applications where required
  • Contribute to the wider applications strategy, focusing on continuous improvement

Systems, Integration & Data

  • Ensure SaaS applications are effectively integrated with internal systems and data platforms
  • Work with stakeholders to support data quality, consistency and accessibility
  • Ensure systems operate in compliance with regulatory, legal and security requirements
  • Produce multi-case models (base, downside, upside) to assess cash flow, liquidity and financial resilience

User Support & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide support to end users, promoting best practice and effective use of systems
  • Act as a key interface between the business and third-party suppliers
  • Translate technical information into clear, user-friendly guidance

Delivery, Maintenance & Improvement

  • Support the delivery of product roadmaps, including enhancements and new features
  • Maintain documentation, processes and standards across applications
  • Coordinate system upgrades, maintenance and issue resolution
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency and user experience

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience in an Applications Manager or similar role within a Saas or systems environment
  • Experience managing the full application lifecycle (from requirements through to implementation and support)
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
  • Experience supporting system configuration, troubleshooting and end-user issues
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service quality

Desirable

  • Familiarity with Agile or project management methodologies
  • Experience with education systems (e.g., MIS, safeguarding, or assessment platforms)
  • Experience with CRM systems
  • Understanding of system integration, data flows or data platforms
