hackajob is collaborating with Dunnhumby Ltd to connect them with exceptional professionals for this role.
Dunnhumby is the global leader in Customer Data Science, partnering with the world’s most ambitious retailers and brands to put the customer at the heart of every decision. We combine deep insight, advanced technology, and close collaboration to help our clients grow, innovate, and deliver measurable value for their customers.
Dunnhumby employs nearly 2,500 experts in offices throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas working for transformative, iconic brands such as Tesco, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Unilever and Metro.
We’re looking for a dynamic Applied Data Science Manager to join the Tesco UK&I ADS team. Your goal will be to use science and data to create new commercially valuable solutions for CPGs. This is an exciting opportunity that will require you to work closely with our propositions teams to turn ideas into MVPs and scalable solutions.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Manage and lead a team of Data Scientists and Market Researchers taking accountability for quality and timeliness of deliverables and building a culture of quality, collaboration and experimentation.
- Shape and define the scope of new propositions in collaboration with the propositions and client teams identifying the science, data and analytical requirements. Translate commercial ideas into solution designs identifying where science, AI or new data sources can unlock differentiated value.
- Demonstrate a solutions mindset, alongside strong industry and capability knowledge, to take complex (and sometimes unclear) requirements and develop a pragmatic, realistic programme of work that leads to tangible results.
- Lead the development and delivery of Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) for new propositions. Rapidly test ideas through prototyping, experimentation, and iteration. Assess technical feasibility, scalability, and commercial viability of new solutions. Work cross-functionally to bring MVPs to life. Clearly articulate trade-offs to support decision making.
- Drive innovation in applied data science using advanced analytics, machine learning, and new data sources. Continuously explore and introduce new techniques to create new solutions/propositions.
- Collaborate across Global Data Science to bring the best of our science capability into CPG solutions now and in the future.
- Promote a culture of re-use of dunnhumby science, modules and code lines over re-invention, and in turn, package up any new solutions for re-use globally if possible.
- Manage risk effectively, provide visible and consistent leadership on Values and Code of Business Conduct and act where you see issues. Protect our team by ensuring they have the skills and training needed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
