Applied Physics
Applied Physics — AI Data Trainer
About The Role
What if your years of physics training could directly shape how AI understands the physical world—from quantum mechanics to thermodynamics to the fundamental laws governing everything around us?
We’re looking for PhD-level Applied Physicists to stress-test cutting-edge AI models, expose gaps in their physical reasoning, and help build systems that truly respect the laws of the universe. This is high-impact, intellectually demanding work—fully remote, with flexible hours you control.
Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You’ll Do
- Design advanced physics problems—craft rigorous, open-ended problems at the level of PhD qualifying exams, requiring:
- Multi-step mathematical derivation
- Deep conceptual reasoning across:
- Quantum mechanics
- Electrodynamics
- Classical mechanics
- Thermodynamics
- Author ground-truth solutions—produce precise, step-by-step "golden responses" with:
- Flawless physical constants
- Correct unit conversions
- Perfect logical flow (benchmark for AI)
- Audit AI reasoning—evaluate AI-generated simulations, derivations, and proofs for physical consistency, identifying:
- Where models hallucinate physics
- Violation of first principles
- Refine model behaviour—deliver structured, expert feedback to improve AI reasoning around:
- Boundary conditions
- Conservation laws
- Physics-informed constraints

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
