Applied Physics (AI Training)

About The Role

What if your deep expertise in physics could directly shape how AI reasons about the physical world? We're looking for PhD-level Applied Physicists to stress-test cutting-edge Large Language Models — probing their understanding of quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and more — and help ensure that AI reasoning never violates the fundamental laws of the universe.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience required — just mastery of physics and a rigorous analytical mind.

Organization: Alignerr

Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Advanced Physics Problems — Craft complex, open-ended problems equivalent to PhD qualifying exam level, requiring multi-step reasoning and mathematical derivation across core physics domains
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step "golden responses" with flawless physical constants, unit conversions, and logical flow
  • Audit AI Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated simulations, proofs, and derivations for physical consistency, identifying where models "hallucinate" physics that violates first principles
  • Refine Model Thinking — Provide structured, expert feedback to improve AI performance on physics-informed reasoning, including boundary conditions, conservation laws, and symmetry constraints
  • Work Independently — Complete task-based assignments asynchronously, fully on your own schedule

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
