Applied Physics Specialist (AI Training)
About The Role
What if your years of physics expertise could directly shape how AI understands the physical world — from quantum mechanics to thermodynamics — for millions of people who rely on it every day?
We're looking for PhD-level Applied Physicists to put cutting-edge Large Language Models to the test. Your job is to probe AI reasoning at its deepest level, expose where it breaks the laws of physics, and help build models that actually respect first principles. This is high-impact, intellectually demanding work — and it's fully remote and flexible.
No AI background required. Just rigorous physics knowledge and a sharp analytical mind.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design PhD-Level Problems — Craft advanced, open-ended physics problems that require multi-step reasoning, mathematical derivation, and deep domain knowledge across topics like quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, and statistical mechanics
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step "golden responses" where every physical constant, unit conversion, and logical step is airtight and precisely correct
- Audit AI Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated solutions and simulations for physical consistency, identifying where models hallucinate results or violate fundamental laws like conservation of energy and momentum
- Refine Model Reasoning — Provide structured, expert feedback that helps AI systems develop physics-informed reasoning — including proper handling of boundary conditions, symmetry arguments, and dimensional analysis

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
