Senior Data Analyst – Transport Operations
Location: Nationwide Contract Type: 6 Months with Option to Extend
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our Transport Operations team and enhance our data-driven decision making. The role involves analysing transport data, and preparing high-impact reports and dashboards to support operational improvements and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis
- Perform deep-dives into transport operations data (e.g., vehicle location, route optimisation, traffic trends)
- Develop data-driven insights on fleet performance, fuel efficiency, driver behaviour, and route optimisation.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and propose data-backed solutions for cost reduction and capacity improvement.

Reporting & Visualisation
- Build accurate, actionable reports to inform management stakeholders (Procurement, Operations, Compliance).
- Create and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards to monitor KPIs in real time (e.g., trip monitoring, resource allocation, compliance status).
- Integrate external data sources (e.g., real-time fleet tracking, weather data APIs) into analyses.

SQL & ETL
- Write and optimise SQL queries for complex data extractions, aggregations, and transformations.
- Lead ETL workflows to cleanse, transform, and migrate transport datasets (structured and unstructured) into BI tools.
- Automate data pipelines (e.g., scheduled data cleanses, refresh processes) to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with Operations teams to gather business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
- Present insights in accessible, customised formats tailored to different audience needs (executives, field personnel).

Technical & Compliance
- Ensure all analyses and reporting adhere to data privacy policies and regulatory requirements.
- Research and recommend improvements to data infrastructure (sourcing, storage, visualisation).
Requirements
Essential:
- Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or Operations Analyst, with a strong focus on transport or logistics preferred.
- Proficient in SQL (advanced queries, window functions, optimisation techniques).
- Experience with Power BI/Power Query, Okta, Tableau or equivalent reporting tools.
- MSA or VBA scripting knowledge (auto tools/scripting for routine tasks).
- Analytical mind with business acumen—able to distil complex data into impactful decisions.
- ** Wartime experience ** preferable but not mandatory.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have:
- Certifications (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, AWS) or experience with cloud-based BI tooling (Power BI Premium/Azure).
- Familiarity with Python/R for statistical modelling or automation.
- Knowledge of GPS/vehicle tracking data analysis and workflows in logistics environments.
