Job Title: Applied Scientist

Location: Worldwide (remote-friendly) Reports To: Head of Data Science

About the Role

We’re seeking an Applied Scientist to join our Customer and Marketing-focused machine learning product team. In this role, you'll address real-world challenges, leveraging data to enhance customer experience and inform marketing strategic decisions.

You'll work alongside engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to design, test, and deploy machine learning solutions delivering measurable business impact.

As part of our machine learning and data science team, you'll focus on marketing-related problems, working with rich datasets while balancing experimentation, responsible decision-making, and high-quality production deployments.


Key Responsibilities

Technical & Product Development

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to design, build, and deploy machine learning solutions.
  • Contribute to marketing data science initiatives, including areas like attribution modeling, causal inference, incrementality testing, and MMM (Marketing Mix Modeling).
  • Scale and optimize models driving key business outcomes across customer-facing domains.

Experimentation & Evaluation

  • Design, implement, and evaluate A/B tests and experiments to measure model effectiveness.
  • Continuously iterate models based on data-driven insights.

  • Stay current with emerging ML advancements through reading groups, prototyping, and applied research.
  • Foster collaboration within the team, sharing knowledge via discussions and technical events.

Requirements & Skills

This role is open to Data Scientists or Applied Scientists eager to collaborate, innovate, and grow within a fast-paced environment. Whilst you don’t need to meet all requirements, the ideal candidate will align with many of these:

Experience & Expertise

  • Hands-on experience in applying machine learning or statistical methods in production or close-to-production settings.
  • Familiarity with marketing-related ML challenges, including:
    • Causal inference
    • Incrementality testing
    • Bayesian methods
    • Experimentation frameworks
  • Proficency in at least one common ML language (e.g., Python, R, Java), including frameworks like TensorFlow/PyTorch, Pandas, and Scikit-learn.
  • Strong grasp of statistical concepts (A/B testing, hypothesis testing, regression, etc.) and code quality best practices.

Soft Skills

  • Ability to prioritize work efficiently while aligning with business needs.
  • Comfort in collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders (e.g., marketers, product owners).
  • Curiosity and passion for research, innovation, and problem-solving – previous publications/conference talks are a plus but not mandatory.
