Team: Money Management
Job Family: Supporting - CBG8
Salary: £31,022 – £33,851 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month. The Money Management Team meet on a weekly basis at Priory House, Chicksands.
Contract Type: Hybrid – Fixed Term/Secondment (up to 12 months, maternity cover)

About the Role
The Money Management team supports vulnerable Adult Social Care customers, who either lack capacity or who are subject to financial abuse, to continue to live in the community or residential home. Your role would be to manage the financial affairs of vulnerable adults who are unable to do so themselves, ensuring their money is handled safely, responsibly, and in their best interests. This includes acting as an appointee or deputy, managing income and expenditure, and liaising with relevant agencies such as the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Have:
- Experience in financial administration or public sector finance.
- Knowledge of welfare benefits, particularly DWP processes.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Knowledge and proficiency in IT, including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Also able to upload and save documents on SharePoint.
- Knowledge required around Mental Capacity Act and The Care Act.
- Experience around welfare benefits, Appointeeships, and Deputyships.
- A full clean UK driving license, which is essential due to the nature of the role.

In This Role, You Will:
- Manage and monitor client finances in accordance with council policies and legal frameworks (e.g., appointeeship/deputyship).
- Liaise with the DWP, banks, care providers, Office of the Public Guardian, and other agencies to ensure clients' benefits and income are received and managed appropriately.
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare regular reports and reconciliations.
- Process payments for clients’ care, living expenses, and other personal needs.
- Safeguard client assets and identify any financial risks or concerns.
- Provide advice and support to social workers, care managers, and clients' representatives on financial matters.
- Use online banking systems to audit clients' bank accounts.
