About the Role
This position can be filled by an Apprentice 4th Year – Journeyman Lineman, depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.
- Residency Requirement: Applicants must live within 60 minutes of the job site.
Business Unit: Transmission function within Asset Management.
Key Responsibilities
Construct, build, and maintain overhead transmission line electric facilities with primary voltages ranging from 69KV–500KV, including:
- Driving different trucks and operating various equipment (e.g., aerial bucket trucks, cranes, diggers, rental equipment)
- Hot-sticking operations on energized lines
- Reading and understanding job prints, sketches, and materials
- Climb, set and maintain poles of various sizes
- Respond to emergency calls after hours (on-call rotation eligibility)
- Perform transmission line switching and energized performance zone (EPZ) grounding
Minimum Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience
- Apprentice (4th Year): 4 years of experience required
- Journeyman Lineman: 5 years of experience required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must demonstrate:
- Physical strength and endurance for all weather conditions
- Ability to work irregular schedules and out-of-town assignments
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Leadership (ability to mentor junior linemen)
- Compliance with Entergy safety policies
- Proficiency in pole climbing, hazard recognition, equipment handling
- Willingness to improve work processes and meet diverse customer needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Positive work attitude in high-stress, changing environments
- Professionalism in customer interactions
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred (obtainable within 6 months)
- Commitment to quality and exceptional service
Required Certifications
- Class A CDL
- Successful completion of EEI CAST test
