Apprentice Plumbers: Learn from the Best and Build Your Future

See what its like to work for us

If you’ve started your plumbing journey and want to take it seriously, Good Hands Plumbing & Drains is where you’ll sharpen your skills, gain independence, and become a plumber people can trust.

We’re a Marrickville-based, family-run plumbing business known for integrity, teamwork, and high-quality residential work. Here, you’ll work alongside experienced tradesmen who’ll teach you not just how to plumb — but how to think, communicate, and grow into a confident professional.

Sound Familiar?

You’re serious about your trade — but maybe you’ve been:

  • Treated like a labourer instead of someone who’s learning.
  • Doing the same tasks every day with no real mentoring.
  • Rushed through jobs without being taught the why behind them.
  • Wanting more structure, more support, and more growth
  • Ready to work hard — but only if it actually leads somewhere.

If that sounds like you, you’ll fit right in at Good Hands.

The Good Hands Superpower:

Real Training, Real Support

At Good Hands, we’re not just filling gaps — we’re building plumbers.

  • Learn from senior tradies who care — patient, experienced mentors who’ll show you the right way, not the quick way.
  • Weekly on-the-job training — practical, hands-on lessons that make sense in the real world.
  • Steady schedule — no on-call chaos or last-minute Saturday shifts.
  • Varied, real work — drainage, gas, fit-offs, hot water, roof repairs — you’ll learn it all.
  • Room to grow — finish your trade, get licensed, and move into quoting or running your own jobs when you’re ready.

We’ll back you every step of the way — with time, tools, and training that actually mean something.

Apprentice Plumber

  • Competitive pay that grows with your skills and progress.
  • Start in a truck or work alongside senior plumbers — we’ll set you up based on experience.
  • Full uniform kit, boots, and PPE provided.
  • Quality tools, vehicles, and systems that make work smoother and smarter.
  • Supportive mentoring from experienced tradesmen who actually take the time to teach you.
  • Weekly development sessions that build confidence and independence on the job.
  • We want you to succeed — the goal is to get you running your own truck and jobs when you’re ready.
  • A calm, respectful team environment — no chaos, no shouting, just good people doing good work.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

“I joined toward the end of my apprenticeship. It was a completely different environment to what I’d experienced before.

You learn how to quote and how to run jobs. That’s such an important factor here, and

most people don’t get it until they’re already on their own and end up winging it.

Having that skill now is enormous.

Good Hands gives you training across the board—from the plumbing itself to interacting with customers and figuring out the best way to approach their needs. ”

Aidan

What we’re looking for

We’re after apprentices who show the right attitude more than anything else. If you can tick these boxes, you’ll do well here — for yourself and for the business.

  • Minimum 6 months into your apprenticeship (Cert III underway).
  • You do what you say you’ll do — reliable, punctual, and accountable.
  • You’re happy to dig, lift, and get dirty — hard work doesn’t scare you.
  • You take feedback well and learn from it without ego.
  • You work well in a team and look out for the people around you.
  • You take initiative — if something needs doing, you don’t wait to be told.
  • You can be trusted to work independently for a few hours when needed.

At Good Hands, experience matters — but performance matters more. Show us your effort, attitude, and skill, and you’ll be recognised for it.

Show up with the right mindset, and we’ll back you to keep progressing — wherever you want your plumbing career to go

Hit The Tools At 8 AM:

Most days you’ll kick off on-site and wrap up around 4:30 PM. Some jobs run the full day, others are two or three smaller ones. We plan it so you’ve got the time to do things properly.

3

Handle What Comes Up:

When a big job or last-minute repair lands, we regroup fast and back each other up. The office team keeps communication clear so you can focus on doing great work.

4

Finish Strong And Head Home:

Finish your last job, send through your notes, and head home knowing there’s no on-call or constant Saturdays. A bit of overtime happens most weeks, but it’s never crazy — we keep things calm and steady.

Real Journeys, Real Growth

Aidan:

“When I started, I thought plumbing was just fixing pipes. Now I spend half my time talking with customers, quoting jobs, and finding solutions. It feels like a proper career— not just a trade.”

Why choose Good Hands?

Real Support While You Learn:

  • You’ll work alongside experienced plumbers who actually take the time to teach you.

Steady, Well-organised Schedule:

  • Predictable hours, clear planning, and overtime that’s reasonable, not relentless.

We Care About Your Progress:

  • If you show the right mindset, we’ll help you get in your own truck and running jobs as soon as you’re ready.

Fair Pay That Grows With You:

  • We don’t pay based on how long you’ve been around, but on the level you’re operating at.

Family-run, Calm Culture:

  • No egos, no shouting, just good people doing great work together.

Learn At Your Own Space:

  • Everyone develops differently, and we’ll support you to become confident on and off the tools.
