Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Reception and telephone duties including greeting visitors
  • Provide general administrative support including filing, the use of various computerised systems, printing and scanning
  • Assist in the recording and maintenance of attendance registers
  • Receiving incoming goods and checking against orders
  • Record information including school lunches and student records
  • Liaise with parents as directed regarding issues relating to individual pupils, including investigating absences
  • Handling cash in line with the school’s finance policy, which may include collecting money from pupils and parents
  • To input data onto computerised systems as required including Arbor, our school Management Information System

What you'll learn

Course contents

Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages. Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem. Able to update and review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required.

Produces accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals. Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management. Drafts correspondence, writes reports and able to review others' work. Maintains records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures. Coaches others in the processes required to complete these tasks.

Training schedule

Training will take place at Gosberton House Academy. Your trainer will visit you every 4-6 weeks

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • English (grade 4)
    • Maths (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

You will be required to pass an enhanced DBS check

Gosberton House is a specialist primary academy mainly for children with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder, with a number of places for children with additional needs including learning, communication, sensory and social needs.

Our children are at the centre of everything we do and we work closely with parents and carers to ensure that we give the children every chance to develop their interests, independence and confidence. We work within the National Autistic Society’s SPELL approach to ensure that our children feel safe and secure, and that their sensory needs as well as their academic, social and emotional needs are supported throughout their time with us.
