Opportunity at Halfords Group – Vehicle Technician Apprentice

Our Halfords Autocentre across the UK is hiring for a dynamic and skilled Vehicle Technician Apprentice role. Join a motivated team where you’ll learn from industry experts, driving your growth to become a valued member of our workforce.

No two days are the same—expect variety in your work, from maintenance and inspections to complex repairs, diagnostics, and even rebuilds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Problem-Solving & Diagnostics: From resolving simple part replacements to tackling complex faults using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Tech-Driven Tasks: Work with ever-evolving automotive technology, applying recognised diagnostic procedures, logical sequences, and industry best practices.
  • Repair & Maintenance: Carry out a wide range of repairs, including high-complexity tasks and in-depth vehicle systems knowledge.
  • Quality Assurance: Test repaired components, follow repair workflows, and ensure vehicles meet high standards before customer handover.
  • Workflow & Compliance: Interpret wiring diagrams, gatherings diagnostics and practical produce, and adhere to Halfords Group’s operational standards.

Training & Progression

  • Full training and support by The Growth Company to complete a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Maintenance.
  • Upon completion, progress to a Level 3 Service & Maintenance Apprenticeship.

Assessment & Next Steps

  • Assessment Day: Successful candidates participate in a workshop at the Greater Manchester Skillcentre (Trafford Park).
  • Work Placement: Short unpaid placement at your chosen Halfords Autocentre.

How You Will Be Supported

The Growth Company will provide comprehensive training to equip you for maximum success in your role.

Pre-Apply Requirements

  • Basic Entry Criteria: Flexible cohort invites within two working days for interested candidates.

  • Academic Qualifications: Ideally, GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or above.
