Job Summary

Role: Apprentice Bricklayer

About the Role Taylor Wimpey is part of the National House-Building Council (NHBC)’s Pride in the Job scheme, where our sites are independently assessed across 28 standards. We are committed to providing a safe environment for employees and subcontractors and maintaining high environmental management standards.

Key Responsibilities (as an Apprentice Bricklayer)

  • Measuring work areas and setting out the first row of bricks while ensuring damp courses align.
  • Mixing mortar juctly and applying it with precision.
  • Laying bricks methodically and level with a trowel.
  • Trimming and shaping bricks to meet design requirements.
  • Verifying work adheres to NHBC standards and safety protocols.
  • Attending college on a day-release basis to complete coursework and exams.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Maths and English GCSEs (minimum Grade C/4 or equivalent).
  • Strong organisational skills with a focus on accuracy.
  • Awareness of health and safety risks, particularly around working at height.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team or with other tradespeople.
  • CSCS card (or the willingness to obtain one).
  • Flexibility to travel to college/regional sites, including those with limited public transport access.
