Job Summary
As part of the National House-Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job scheme, Taylor Wimpey builds over 15,000 homes a year while maintaining high standards of safety and environmental management.
We’re looking to grow our skilled trade teams, particularly in Production. Opportunities await for quality-dedicated bricklayers who take pride in their craft. As an apprentice bricklayer, you’ll contribute to new builds from start to finish, shaping careers and lives.

Core Role
As a bricklayer apprentice, you’ll:
- Interpret build drawings to understand project requirements
- Set out brickwork, ensuring precise alignment and levels
- Mix and apply mortar, handling different brick shapes and trimming
- Work at height and maintain strict health and safety compliance
- Monitor quality to adhere to company and regulatory standards
Primary Responsibilities
- Measure work areas and mark the first brick row, ensuring levels and damp course accuracy
- Prepare mortar mixes—material selection, measuring, and application
- Master brickwork: Stack, trim, and align bricks with mortar trowels
- Verify and adjust levels throughout the build
- Attend College on day release to complete coursework and exams
Experience, Qualifications & Requirements
- Maths and English GCSEs (minimum required)
- Technical precision: Organised, meticulous, and detail-oriented approach
- Awareness of safety, especially when working at height
- Ability to connect with trade teams—collaboration is key
- Familiarity with property construction principles is desirable
- CSCS Card holders will gain priority (while building towards a CSCS Blue Skill Card)
- Must be mobile for College attendance and regional site travel (some locations have limited public transport)
