Fixed Term Business Administrator Level 3 Apprentice
East Sussex County Council Education Division within Children’s Services is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a fixed term Business Administrator Level 3 Apprentice.
About the Role
This is a great opportunity to begin your career in business administration while supporting services that make a real difference to children, young people, and families across East Sussex.
As a Business Administrator Level 3 Apprentice, you will be based within the Specialist Teaching Services Team, based at either St Mary’s House, Eastbourne, or Cavendish House, Hastings.
You will provide administrative support across a range of service areas, gaining valuable insight into the Education Division while developing practical skills in a professional working environment.
Apprenticeships are an excellent way to start your career, allowing you to learn and train while working alongside experienced colleagues and developing job-specific skills. You will be assigned an apprenticeship coach and be supported day-to-day by a workplace mentor or supervisor.
During the apprenticeship you will build strong administrative skills, and work towards a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification, all while contributing to services that help children and young people thrive. We are committed to supporting career progression, and the diversity of work offers excellent scope for personal and professional growth.
In this role, you will learn to provide day-to-day administrative support including filing, photocopying, mail handling and information updates. You'll use Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel confidently as part of your daily work and handle telephone and email enquiries professionally. Tasks will include preparing correspondence, reports and accurate data entry across Council systems. You will support meetings and events, including diary coordination, minute-taking and planning, and will assist with financial processes such as petty cash, invoice processing and maintaining records. This is an opportunity to develop problem-solving skills to help staff, customers and partner agencies, and learn to manage your time effectively while completing your Level 3 apprenticeship qualification.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
