Apprentice CNC Operator
Begin your career as an Apprentice CNC Operator. You'll work towards a Level 2 Engineering Operative qualification while learning to operate CNC machines, read engineering drawings and produce quality components. With full training and support, you'll develop practical engineering skills in a modern manufacturing environment.
Requirements
- GCSE in: English (grade grade D/3/Level 1 Functional S)

Responsibilities
- Learn to set up and operate CNC machines to manufacture precision components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Produce high-quality parts safely and accurately.
- Use manual machinery and a variety of hand tools.
- Assist with machine set-up, proving and production processes.
- Work alongside experienced engineers and manufacturing staff.
- Follow health and safety procedures and ISO quality standards.
- Help maintain a clean, organised workspace using 6S principles.
- Develop problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.
- Work towards a Level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship qualification.

Benefits
- Full training and support
- Wage: £16,224 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age (National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices)
- Pay: £8.00 per hour during the first year of the apprenticeship. Pay will increase in line with National Minimum Wage legislation after the first year, subject to age and apprenticeship status.
- Training: Fully funded engineering apprenticeship programme, designed to support the development of technical knowledge and practical engineering skills relevant to the forging industry.
- Training Schedule: 1 day per week via virtual classroom, accompanied by an assessor visit every 8–12 weeks. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
- Potential Future Pay: Your earnings can increase over time with an apprenticeship. Find out about potential future pay (opens in new tab).
- Career Progression: Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a permanent CNC Operator position. With further experience and training, you'll have opportunities to progress into roles such as CNC Programmer, CNC Setter/Operator, Production Engineer or Manufacturing Supervisor, building a long-term career in engineering.

- Start date: Saturday 1 August 2026
- Duration: 1 year
- Hours: Monday – Thursday 7am -4pm. Friday 7am – 12pm. (39 hours a week)
