Job Title: Apprentice Depot Operative
Reporting to: Plant Depot Operations Manager
Business Unit: UK Plant & Equipment
Purpose of the Position:
The Apprentice Depot Operative will undertake works in connection with the control of Transmission Over Head Line (TOHL) Heavy Plant and Specialist Equipment. This will include assisting loading and unloading of deliveries / collections, preparing materials, maintenance of stock and general warehouse and workshop duties. High standards of housekeeping are required and a keen willingness to learn is key. This role would be ideal for a sixth form / college leaver or for someone who is looking for their first step into an exciting and rewarding career. The role is based in the Plant Depot with occasional travel to other locations throughout the UK. Flexibility in working hours, including overtime, may be required to meet operational demands.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Including but not limited to the following:
- Assisting with 'Goods In' and accepting deliveries into the Plant Depot ensuring that the quality of the goods is checked on receipt and any paperwork is accurate.
- Assisting with 'Goods Out' and ensuring that pre-despatch checks are completed and recorded.
- Assisting with the loading on to and unloading off of goods from a variety of vehicles.
- Conduct regular checks to verify stock levels are accurate and appropriate.
- Carrying out routine checks on Plant & Equipment returned to the Depot in a timely manner to confirm quantity and identify any damages or missing parts.
- Ensuring that Plant & Equipment is stored correctly and safely.
- Picking and preparing items ready for inspection and despatch.
- Complete relevant paperwork and records as required.
- Assisting with regular stock checks.
- Communicate effectively with the Plant Depot Team and Project Site Teams.
- Maintaining high standards of Housekeeping throughout the Depot at all times.
- Deliver and / or collect Plant & Equipment from / to suppliers and project sites throughout the UK as required.
- Ensure the Skips and Waste Disposal areas are well maintained and that waste is being correctly disposed of to maximise recycling opportunities.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of the Plant Depot product and service delivery.
- Ensure that all Omexom Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) policies and procedures are adhered to, adopting a safe method of working at all times.

Qualifications And Experience
- Good time management skills.
- Good level of communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable criteria
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Valid Forklift Truck and / or Telehandler Operators' certificate.
- Computer literate - able to use MS Word, Excel & Outlook comfortably.
