Apprentice Design Engineer – Fire Suppression
📍 Location: Bristol, UK (Office at Johnson Controls, Unit 1 Westpoint Row, Almondsbury, BS32 4QG, with customer site travel as needed)

This apprenticeship blends office-based work with client site visits, allowing you to design:
- Fire sprinkler systems
- Gas suppression systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Pipework and valve installations
- Pump houses

What You’ll Do
You’ll be part of Johnson Controls’ design team, creating fire suppression systems for industrial and commercial clients. As part of a Level 3 Engineering Design Technician Apprenticeship, you’ll:
- Work alongside an experienced design engineer, learning fundamental design engineering principles.
- Get hands-on with design software, including:
- AutoCAD
- Revit 3D modelling
- Other industry-specific tools
- Develop detailed designs and system calculations, complying with industry and legislative standards.
- Conduct client site visits, surveys, and collaborative assessments.
- Occasionally travel nationally for client engagements (travel, accommodation & meals covered).

Requirements
To apply, you must have:
✅ GCSEs in English & Maths – Grade 5 (or C equivalent) or above (Certificates must be attached in your application) ✅ A full UK driving licence (Valid for business requirements) ✅ Ability to pass SC [Security Clearance] checks (Standard for this role) ✅ Willingness to travel for client engagements, including work away stays (hotels provided) ✅ Strong team spirit, good communication skills, and a passion for technology & engineering
