Job Purpose
This Job Description is intended as a guide to the type of role the Job Holder is expected to perform. As the nature of our business can vary with changes in customer requirements and operating procedures the following tasks are the key duties of the role, but it is understood that the Job holder will undertake any function in which he/she is adequately trained or competant. If in time, significant changes to the role are experienced, a new Job Description will be issued.
- To support production to achieve optimum operating efficiencies through asset care programmes and continuous improvement projects and support and champion a maintenance regime on a range of automated machinery.
- To respond to machine breakdowns and liaise with operating personnel to resolve/repair run issues in a busy print manufacturing environment and use fault finding methods to establish cause and effect and use programmes to monitor and analyse trends in data collated and implement proactive strategies wherever possible. In addition to maximising machine uptime, the site engineer will also have responsibilities concerning energy management, facilities management, H&S and improvement projects.

Job Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities
- Investigations of faults and diagnostics - To fault find problems with machines (both electrical and mechanical) using a systematic approach to problems and problem-solving techniques
- Improve and perform maintenance methods and procedures used on all machines on site
- Champion our system to log and record duties performed “C Works”
- Analyse trends in reoccurring faults and breakdowns
- General Housekeeping of stores and engineering areas and cataloguing spares
- Filing Invoices and associated paperwork
- Ordering spare parts and components receiving quotes and tenders as required
- Basic electrical repairs
- General labouring and ad hoc chores
- Facilities Management including the fabric of the building and services
- Lead and participate in improvement projects
- Develop and maintain a professional customer relationship with operators of the machines and work together to improve the flow of communication regarding faults and work in partnership to increase the performance of all machines
- Provide statistical analysis to both line manager and 3rd parties as required
- Ensure all departmental procedures are followed
- Working closely with all internal departments
- To attend meetings including other site visits where appropriate
- To be a willing and flexible team member ready to take on new and expanding tasks as appropriate
- Any other reasonable request

Knowledge, Skills, Experience
- Interest in engineering and mechanical activities and a willingness to learn
- Good level of computer literacy
- Methodical and ability to prioritise workload
- Electrical and mechanical capabilities
- Good verbal and written presentation/communication skills
- Ability to plan and co-ordinate priorities within a team environment
- Business and commercial awareness
- Demonstrable experience of excellent analytical, numeracy, organisational and communication skills
- Demonstrable experience of working to high quality standards
- Demonstrable evidence of information handling ability and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel and some flexibility in working hours
- Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
Qualifications
Educational and professional:
- Advanced (Level 3) 4-5 GCSEs (grade 9-4 / A*-C), including Maths, English, and a science or technical subject would be desirable but not essential
