Apprentice Extrusion Technician

HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday - Thursday (Apply online only), Friday (Apply online only) - Fixed term for 18 months leading to a permanent role.

Daily Responsibilities

1. Apprenticeship Training

  • Work towards a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations, combining classroom-based learning and hands-on experience

2. Extusion Process & Tooling

  • Learn and support extrusion processes, including:
    • Tooling setup and adjustments
    • Basic troubleshooting and tweaks
    • Maintenance checks

3. Technical & Quality Assurance Skills

  • Study and interpret technical drawings (with guidance)
  • Conduct basic product inspection & quality checks to meet industry standards
  • Follow procedures for defect identification and resolution

4. Team & Process Contribution

  • Plan and organise tasks under supervision of experienced team members
  • Apply structured problem-solving to improve operational efficiency
  • Safely follow standard operating practices in a fast-paced environment

5. Professional Standards

  • Maintain precision, consistency, and meticulous attention to detail

What We Need From You

Essential Qualities & Skills

  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn
  • Formal qualification: No minimum education — GCSE English (Grade 4/C or above) – desirable but not essential
  • Technical aptitude: Basic understanding of machinery, measurement tools, and precision work
  • Problem-solving: Ability to take a logical, analytical approach
  • Teamwork & adaptability: Thrives in both independent task management and collaborative teamwork
