Formulation Scientist Apprentice

Location: Swindon Contract Type: 18-month contract Opportunity: Gain hands-on industry experience while studying towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship

Catalent are currently recruiting for a Formulation Scientist Apprentice to join their New Product Development (NPD) team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills in pharmaceutical formulation while supporting the development of Zydis® products.

About the Role

The Formulation Scientist Apprentice will assist in multiple stages of product development, laboratory experimentation, and batch manufacturing under close supervision. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting feasibility and formulation development studies
  • Assisting with the manufacture of GMP batches for clinical and stability studies
  • Conducting laboratory experiments, product characterisation, and physical testing
  • Recording and compiling experimental data for review
  • Maintaining laboratory supplies, including ordering and tracking deliveries
  • Supporting the shipment of materials in compliance with H&S procedures
  • Performing routine checks on laboratory equipment to ensure compliance
  • Supporting cross-functional teams to meet project milestones
  • Accurately documenting data in notebooks, logbooks, and batch records

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including:
    • English
    • Mathematics
    • Science

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
