Formulation Scientist Apprentice
Job Summary: Swindon, 18-month contract.
Catalent are currently recruiting for a Formulation Scientist Apprentice to join our New Product Development (NPD) team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on industry experience while studying towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship.
In this role, you will support the development of new Zydis® products, assisting with formulation activities, laboratory experimentation, and batch manufacturing under supervision. You will play a key part in ensuring laboratory operations run efficiently while maintaining compliance with GMP, GLP, and company procedures.
The Role:
- Supporting feasibility and formulation development studies
- Assisting with the manufacture of GMP batches for clinical and stability studies
- Conducting laboratory experiments, product characterisation, and physical testing
- Recording and compiling experimental data for review
- Maintaining laboratory supplies, placing orders, and tracking deliveries
- Supporting shipment of materials in line with H&S procedures
- Performing routine laboratory equipment checks to ensure compliance
- Supporting cross-functional teams to meet project milestones
- Accurately recording data in notebooks, logbooks, and batch records

The Candidate:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English, Maths, and Science (Grade 4/C or above)
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Proactive, flexible approach with a willingness to learn
- Ability to manage tasks effectively and meet deadlines
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work within a team environment
- High level of enthusiasm, drive, and accountability
- Positive mindset with a commitment to personal development
- Strong self-awareness and professionalism
- Ability to build effective working relationships
