Sapphire Vehicle Services is looking for people to join our HGV Technician Apprenticeship Scheme to be developed into tomorrow’s best Heavy Vehicle Repair Technicians. After completing the course, you will be a fully qualified HGV technician.

- Ability to attend block release at Loughborough College Group, Stephenson College campus, in Coalville and stay away from home in host/hotel accommodation (travel and food costs covered)
Responsibilities
- Train in all aspects of heavy vehicle repair, including diagnostics using OEM equipment for Mercedes, Scania, DAF & IVECO.
- Service and maintain the fleet of heavy goods vehicles, trailers and tail lifts.
- Complete roller brake tests.
- Complete Tacho calibrations.
- Complete air conditioning service/repairs.
- Complete windscreen repair.
- Complete tail lift statutory inspections and weight tests.
- Carry out basic tasks with tools and equipment for basic mechanical and electrical procedures related to HV.
- Keep updated with emerging new technologies within the HV industry.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to company and legislative processes.
- Access specific and related HV technical information appropriately.
- Service, inspect and maintain HVs and trailers to meet company, Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and manufacturers’ standards.
- Use diagnostic and electrical measuring equipment to identify faults on HVs.
- Inspect and prepare vehicles and trailers to meet DVSA standards.
- Carry out final quality checks before handover to the customer without supervision.
- Apply advanced diagnostic principles and problem-solving techniques.
- Maintain records to company and operators’ licence obligations and regulation.
- Communicate effectively in oral and written mediums, internally and with customers.
