Sapphire Vehicle Services is looking for people to join our HGV Technician Apprenticeship Scheme to be developed into tomorrow’s best Heavy Vehicle Repair Technicians. After completing the course, you will be a fully qualified HGV technician.

Requirements

  • Time away from working for specialist training to study and gain professional knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to keep updated with emerging new technologies within the HV industry.
  • Ability to service, inspect and maintain HVs and trailers to meet company, Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and manufacturers’ standards.
  • Ability to use a range of diagnostic and electrical measuring equipment to identify faults and underlying causes on HVs.
  • Ability to inspect and prepare vehicles and trailers to meet DVSA standards prescribed in the tester’s manual.
  • Ability to carry out final quality checks before handover to the customer without supervision.
  • Ability to apply advanced diagnostic principles and logical/problem solving techniques and regimes.
  • Ability to maintain records to company and operators’ licence obligations and regulation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written mediums both internally and with customers on a range of topics that will support, HV inspection and diagnosing techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out the basic tasks with tools and equipment common to all procedures involving basic mechanical and electrical procedures related to HV.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to the company and legislative processes.
  • Access specific and related HV technical information appropriately.
  • Service and maintain all aspects of our modern and varied fleet of heavy goods vehicles, trailers and tail lifts.
  • Complete roller brake tests, Tacho calibrations and air conditioning service/repairs.
  • Complete windscreen repair.
  • Complete tail lift statutory inspections and weight tests.

About Sapphire Vehicle Services

Our fully equipped and IRTEC accredited workshops all have the ability to complete: roller brake tests, Tacho calibrations, air conditioning service/repairs, windscreen repair, and tail lift statutory inspections and weight tests. We service and maintain all aspects of our modern and varied fleet of heavy goods vehicles, trailers and tail lifts. Technicians will be trained in all aspects of heavy vehicle repair and will include diagnostics using OEM equipment for Mercedes, Scania, DAF & IVECO.
