As part of our friendly and supportive Income Collection team, you'll play a key role in helping local residents manage their repayments, while ensuring vital funds are collected to support services across our community. Every conversation you have and every solution you help create will make a tangible difference.
What You'll Be Doing
This is no ordinary office role. You'll develop valuable skills in communication, negotiation, customer service and problem-solving while working alongside experienced colleagues who will support your development every step of the way.
You'll:
- Speak with customers by phone and email to discuss outstanding balances
- Agree realistic and sustainable payment arrangements
- Support customers through breathing space and insolvency processes
- Assess individual circumstances and identify appropriate recovery options
- Work closely with colleagues across the Council
- Study towards a Level 3 Senior Credit Controller and Debt Collection Specialist qualification

What We're Looking For
You don't need direct experience - we'll provide full training.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has English and Maths at Level 2 / GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above
- Is confident speaking with people and building positive relationships
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Is motivated to learn and develop
- Can balance work responsibilities with apprenticeship study
- Wants to make a positive impact for local residents

Salary
National Minimum Wage for Age:
- Age 21+: Β£12.21 per hour
- Age 18-20: Β£10.00 per hour
- Under 18: Β£7.55 per hour
