Apprentice Installation Engineer - Fire
Fire & Security Systems Apprentice (Field-Based) – London & Southwest Region
📍 Location: Closer to Waterlooville (operating across Dorset, with the need to travel to Chichester and Reading).

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated individual passionate about engineering, safety, and technology. This field-based apprenticeship allows you to travel across varied sites, from residential properties to commercial buildings and retail locations, while installing, commissioning, and maintaining fire detection systems, CCTV, access control, and security alarms.
What You’ll Be Up To
- Design and install electronic security and fire safety systems, including detection alarms, panels and cameras.
- Commission and proactively maintain systems critical for safety, efficiency and security.
- Gain first-person experience across residential, commercial and retail environments.
- Work in teams and get mentored towards a future career in fire and security engineering.

Where You’ll Train
🎓 Training Provider: Banham Academy
📚 Apprenticeship Pathway: Level 3 Fire Emergency & Security Systems Technician
🧠 Training Style: A blend of college-based modules and on-the-job mentoring (structured in block study periods).
What You’ll Need
Check the below prerequisites before applying. These are non-negotiable requirements for this apprenticeship:
- 📝 GCSE English & Mathematics: A strong foundation—(Grade 5 (C) or above) in required subjects.
- 🚗 UK Driving Licence: Passed or in progress (as travel will be part of your role).
- 🧪 Ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions: Requiring physical fitness and adaptability.
- ✅ Good physical health for labour-intensive tasks.
- ⏳ Captains’ resolve to relocate/travel: Willingness to stay away overnight (hotel bookings required occasionally).

- 💰 Salary: £16,380 per year (starting point).
- 🛠️ Settings: Full tooling, uniform and equipment provided—no out-of-pocket costs for standard workwear.
- 📅 Holiday Entitlement: 25 days + bank holidays.
