About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for technology to begin a career in IT. As an Apprentice IT Engineer, you will provide first-line IT support to colleagues across multiple international sites while learning from experienced IT professionals.
What You'll Do at Work
- Performing routine IT maintenance tasks, including software updates and antivirus scans
- Participating in IT projects, such as system upgrades and deployments
- Collaborating with the IT team to learn and implement IT policies and best practices
- Documenting IT processes and configurations to support knowledge sharing
- Liaising with external vendors and service providers as part of the procurement and support process
- Taking ownership of tasks and ensuring they are completed to a high standard
- Keeping IT support tickets up to date, accurately logging progress, resolutions, and any follow-up actions
- Troubleshooting basic hardware, software, and network issues, contributing to timely resolutions
- Assisting with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment, such as desktops, laptops, and printers

What You'll Learn
Course Contents
- Interpretation and prioritization of internal or external customer's requirements in line with organization's policy.
- Applying the appropriate tools and techniques to undertake fault finding and rectification.
- Applying Continuous Professional Development to support necessary business output and technical developments.
- Operating safely and securely across platforms and responsibilities maintaining the security of personal data of internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicating with all levels of stakeholders, keeping them informed of progress and managing escalation where appropriate.
- Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, customers and other relevant stakeholders.
- Managing and prioritising the allocated workload effectively making best use of time and resources.
- Completing documentation relevant to the task and escalating where appropriate.
- Installing or undertaking basic software upgrades, either physically or remotely.
- Establishing and diagnosing the extent of the IT support task, in line with the organisation's policies and Service Level Agreements.
- Providing remote/F2F support to resolve customer requirements.
- Maintaining a safe working environment for own personal safety and others in line with Health & Safety appropriate to the task.
- Identifying and scoping the best solution informed by the system data associated with the task.
- Testing and evaluating the system's performance and compliance with customer requirements.
- Escalating non-routine problems in line with procedures.
- Using basic scripting to execute the relevant tasks for example PowerShell, Linux.
- Carrying out routine maintenance across systems, (such as IT, Communications), ensuring organisational compliance at all times.
- Applying the necessary security, in line with access and/or encryption requirements.
- Using a range of Cabling or Connectors equipment in line with technical requirements for example physically or remotely.
- Testing and evaluating network environments.
- Monitoring performance and usage of a network.
- Deploying applications on a network.
- Setting up storage and data access for staff.
- Applying necessary security measures, in line with access requirements to a network.
- Carrying out routine maintenance across network systems, ensuring organisational compliance.
- Monitoring network-related workloads including DNS and firewalls.
- Installing or undertaking basic upgrades, either physically or remotely.
- Establishing digital communication or telecommunications systems through, for example cabling and connecting equipment.
- Identifying a range of tools and or diagnostic equipment, for example, Hardware or Software components, to resolve Communications or Telecommunications requirements.
- Undertaking basic telecommunications activities, in response to an allocated task, designated responsibilities, instructions or customer’s requirements.
- Using information necessary to identify operational issues and rectify or escalate accordingly in line with policy.

Information Communications Technician Level 3. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will gain practical, hands-on experience supporting IT systems while working alongside experienced professionals. You will have access to both internal and external learning resources to enhance your technical knowledge and professional development.
Essential Qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English (grade 4)
- in 5 Subjects (grade 4)
- Maths (grade 4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
