Apprentice Laboratory Technician

Ofi are looking for an Apprentice Laboratory Technician to be based at their Goole site. This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in a career in science. During the apprenticeship, the successful applicant will receive practical and theoretical training in Lab techniques which will fully equip them for their future career.

Ofi, which stands for Olam Food Ingredients, is a leading global supplier of high-quality food and beverage ingredients and solutions across a wide range of categories.

You will be working alongside a mentor in a small team and assist with the safe, efficient, and reliable laboratory operation.

The Apprentice Laboratory Technician will work with the operations team to test, collate, interpret, and report quality lab results in a timely manner, and to a high standard and in a safe way. You will develop the technical knowledge of scientific methods and techniques to accurately conduct and document laboratory tests and tasks.

You will learn to follow and conduct risk assessments, work safely in a laboratory, follow procedures, perform tasks, use specified instrumentation and laboratory equipment, record accurate data, interpret results, apply scientific techniques to present data, and understand the legal requirements for your industry, i.e., HASWA, COSHH, DSEAR.

Our goal is to work with you, developing your lab skills, so you become competent in various test methods and in operating key pieces of equipment.

An employee in this occupation will be responsible for proactively finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving the business. You must work safely, to legislation and codes of practice, and follow quality procedures to meet the quality standards relevant to your work.
