Apprentice Maintenance Operative
Location: Nottingham, NG7 7NQ Salary: £23,690 per annum plus excellent benefits Schedule: Full-time (37.5 hours/week), Monday–Friday, with on-call availability (08:00–18:00 as required)

About the Role
Ready to impact a better future? As an Apprentice Maintenance Operative in our Justice and Immigration AASC MEE team, you’ll learn the fundamentals of property maintenance while earning a recognised qualification.
You’ll support experienced colleagues in delivering essential maintenance services, ensuring properties are safe, compliant, and ready for use. This role offers hands-on experience combined with structured college study, equipping you with the skills to create a meaningful difference in the community.
By upholding high standards in property condition, your work will directly improve day-to-day living environments—making an instant and lasting impact while helping you build a fulfilling long-term career.
Responsibilities
You’ll be entrusted with the following key tasks:
- Support the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across a designated property portfolio
- Carry out basic repairs, cosmetic works, and garden maintenance under supervision
- Identify and report hazards to ensure properties are safe for occupants prior to work
- Comply with all health and safety legislation and internal safety standards
- Assist with sourcing materials from approved suppliers and maintaining accurate records
- Properly dispose of waste, maximising recycling where possible
- Provide regular updates on repair progress and raise any delays to your manager

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- A positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn—both through formal study and on-the-job training
- An interest in property maintenance (no prior experience is required)
- A valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel within the region
- Strong teamwork skills and a proactive approach to supporting colleagues
- Ability to meet security clearance requirements, including an enhanced background check
- Ability to become BPSS-approved to meet government security standards (prior criminal convictions may restrict eligibility)
Vetting & Checks
Before starting, you’ll undergo government-mandated checks:
- BPSS clearance (identity verification, employment history, criminal record screening)
- An Occupational Health Questionnaire for wellbeing assessment
