Network Engineer Apprentice

Our client is recruiting for a Network Engineer Apprentice to join their team in London.

The Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship programme that we are offering, will allow you to kick-start your career in an industry that is constantly evolving, dynamic and transformational.

The Position

Job Title: Network Engineer Apprentice

Apprenticeship Course: Level 4 Network Engineer

Apprenticeship Duration: 18 Months

Location: London, EC4A

Working Hours: 9am – 5pm, Monday - Friday

Salary: Starting salary £16,000 per annum

Role and Responsibilities

As a Network Engineer Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in managing and supporting IT infrastructure, with a focus on Microsoft 365 and general networking. You will work closely with our IT team to assist in various projects and daily operations, gaining valuable skills in a fast-paced, professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Microsoft 365 Administration

    • Assist in managing user accounts, permissions, and mailboxes.
    • Support in configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft 365 applications (e.g., Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
    • Help with the deployment and migration of Microsoft 365 services.
  • Networking Support

    • Assist in the configuration and maintenance of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls).
    • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
    • Monitor network performance and security.
  • Technical Support

    • Provide first-level support to end-users for hardware and software issues.
    • Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of workstations and peripherals.
    • Document support tickets and resolutions in the helpdesk system.

  • Project Assistance

    • Participate in IT projects and initiatives, providing support as needed.
    • Assist in researching and implementing new technologies.
  • Documentation and Reporting

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for IT processes and procedures.
    • Generate reports on IT activities and metrics as required.

Required Skills:

  • Microsoft 365

    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and applications.
    • Understanding of user and group management in Microsoft 365.
  • General Networking

    • Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
    • Familiarity with network devices and their functions.

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Windows Server Administration

    • Basic understanding of Windows Server environments.
    • Knowledge of Active Directory, group policies, and file services.
  • Cybersecurity Awareness

    • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
    • Understanding of common security threats and mitigation strategies.
  • Customer Service Skills

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to provide clear and concise technical support to non-technical users.
  • Problem-Solving Skills

    • Analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to resolve issues.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based with the possibility of remote work.
  • May require occasional after-hours or weekend work for project support.
