About the Role
As a nursery apprentice, you will have the opportunity to observe childcare workers in the nursery as they teach, communicate, and play with little ones.
Responsibilities
- Work Experience: Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

- Training and Development: Our apprenticeship programme offers a fantastic opportunity to train as an Early Years Practitioner while working towards a professional qualification, allowing you to earn while you learn in a supportive, engaging, and progressive environment.
- Tasks: Alongside observing experienced practitioners, apprentices take on meaningful responsibilities such as planning and maintaining children’s records, developing an understanding of safeguarding policies, and sharing responsibility for the health, safety, cleanliness, and overall wellbeing of the children.
- Mentorship: You’ll be supported and mentored every step of the way by qualified staff, build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, and help plan and deliver activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Course Contents
- Support babies and young children through a range of transitions and significant events.
- Recognise and respond to danger, risk, or abuse.
- Identify and mitigate risks and hazards.
- Use prevention and control of infection techniques.
- Use equipment safely.
- Encourage personal safety and hygiene.
- Promote health and wellbeing.
- Carry out respectful care routines.
- Communicate effectively with children and families.
- Extend children’s development and learning.
- Support early language and mathematical development.
- Implement and review educational programmes.
- Observe, assess, plan, and record outcomes.
- Value and respect developmental needs.
- Work co-operatively with colleagues and parents.
- Encourage parents to take an active role in their child’s care and development.

Training and Qualifications
- Working towards the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard.
- Functional skills in maths and English if required.
- Delivered by Realise, a dedicated training provider.
Desirable Qualifications
- GCSE in Maths and English (grade 4)

- This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check
