Job Opportunity: Nursery Practitioner
Are you passionate about working with children? If so, you’ll be a perfect addition to our family! We are recruiting for a nursery practitioner in our Lidgett Lane Day Nursery! As a nursery apprentice, you will have the opportunity to observe childcare workers in the nursery as they teach, communicate and play with little ones.

About the Apprenticeship
Our apprenticeship programme offers a fantastic opportunity to train as an Early Years Practitioner while working towards a professional qualification, allowing you to earn while you learn in a supportive, engaging, and progressive environment.
Responsibilities
- Observe experienced practitioners
- Plan and maintain children’s records
- Develop an understanding of safeguarding policies
- Share responsibility for the health, safety, cleanliness, and overall wellbeing of the children
- Help plan and deliver activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

- Early years practitioner (level 2)
Course Contents
- Support babies and young children through transitions and significant events
- Recognise when a child is in danger and explain the procedures to protect them
- Identify risks and hazards and follow reporting procedures
- Use prevention and control of infection techniques
- Use equipment, furniture, and materials safely
- Encourage personal safety and hygiene practices
- Promote health and wellbeing
- Carry out respectful care routines
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues
- Extend children’s development and learning
- Support early language development and literacy
- Support mathematical learning
- Implement and review activities to support children’s development
- Work cooperatively with colleagues and parents or carers
- Value and respect the developmental needs of children
- Use feedback and mentoring to support areas for development
- Work alongside parents or carers in their child’s care, play, learning, and development
- Demonstrate the importance of healthy diets, oral care, and physical activity

Requirements
- Full role and responsibilities set out by your employer
- On-the-job training provided
- 20% off-the-job learning incorporated as part of your working day
- Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard
- Functional skills in maths and English if required
- GCSE in Maths and English (grade 4) desirable
- Enhanced DBS check required

Career Progression
Level 2 Pathway apprentices at Partou usually become qualified Nursery Assistants within 12-months of starting. After this, many move onto the Level 3 Pathway.
