Salary:
- Age 16–18: £8.00 per hour — 40 hours per week (including time at college)
- Age 19–20: £11.06 per hour — 40 hours per week (including time at college)
- Age 21+: £12.71 per hour — 40 hours per week (including time at college)
About Celtic Horizons
Celtic Horizons is a partnership between United Welsh Group and Mears Group PLC, delivering repairs, maintenance, and improvement services to over 6,800 homes across South Wales. The work we do helps keep homes safe, well maintained, and in good condition for the people who live in them. Every day, our teams are out in the community delivering a range of repairs, maintenance, and planned improvement works across local housing. This is practical, hands-on work that makes a real difference to residents and the communities we serve.
You will be part of the operational team working within the Celtic Horizons partnership, supporting United Welsh tenants across South Wales. Your contract will be issued under Celtic Horizons as part of the local partnership structure. Our focus is on delivering a reliable, high-quality service and treating residents and their homes with care and respect.

About the Role
As an Apprentice Planner, you will be developing within the role guided by your mentor. The role will be based within our customer service team working from our branch in Caerphilly. One day a week is allocated to complete your college coursework, and the option to work from home when completing this is available. You will not be required to attend college; all courses are online, and assessments are submitted via a secure portal.
You will be involved in a wide range of activities including data analysis, using this information to support both complaints and compliments from the client, tenants, and residents. Attending meetings and site visits and arranging social value events with local schools and community groups.
Role Criteria
- GCSE in Maths and English graded A-E
- Eager to learn and give 100%
- Great Communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.

Application Process
All applicants must submit their CV and complete the apprenticeship questionnaire via the Mears Careers website. If shortlisted, you will be contacted to confirm whether you have been selected for the next stage - this may be an assessment center or an individual interview.
Please note: as part of the selection process, you will be required to complete a basic maths and English test, similar to the assessments needed to join the college. All our roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work within the UK. Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship. Candidates should be aware that all our roles are subject to relevant Background, Identity & Security checks before commencement of employment.
