About the Role
In this exciting and developmental position, you’ll:

Working Across Local Services
As a Policy Support Officer in Warwickshire County Council’s Highways Service, you’ll develop and deliver practical, policy-driven guidance that meets legislative and corporate priorities. Your role will involve:
- Translating complex policies into clear, actionable guidance
- Supporting briefings, reports, communications, and stakeholder engagement to foster well-informed decisions
- Organising and streamlining decision-making processes to improve service delivery

The Team – Policy, Project & Assurance
The team lives at the heart of county highways operations, driving: 🔹 Development of robust, user-focused policy 🔹 Effective delivery of services aligned with legislative frameworks and strategic goals 🔹 Transparent assurance and risk management processes 🔹 Support of large-scale projects by translating ambitions into tangible outcomes
The team works closely with colleagues, partners, and elected Members—turning policy ambitions into widespread impact.
Key Requirements
We’re looking for an enthusiastic learner with:
- No prior experience needed – just a willingness to grow
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly
- Strong commitment to delivering exceptional service
- Drive to collaborate in a supportive team environment
Essential skills:
- A confident, clear communicator
- Ability to organise workloads and prioritise tasks
- Proficiency with standard IT tools, including Microsoft Office and email

Apprenticeship Incentive: Level 3 Business Administrator
This position is aligned with the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, delivered by Heart of England Training.
Completion of this apprenticeship leads to progression into a permanent role as a Business Support Officer.
