Apprentice Quantity Surveyor
Apprentice Quantity Surveyor – HMCTS Contract (48 Month Fixed Term)
Equans is seeking an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team, supporting the HMCTS contract at our Bevis Marks office, London. This role offers a fixed-term contract (48 months), working full time (40 hours/week) with a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Quantity Surveyor to contribute to contract commercial management, profit improvement, and compliance, helping deliver exceptional project outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to develop your quantity surveying career while supporting our growth and success within the sector.
Responsibilities
As an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, your key responsibilities will include:
- Assist with commercial administration & project management
- Support the Quantity Surveyor in managing live projects
- procurement & contract administration
- Manage subcontract procurement information, orders, accounts, and variation accounts in line with the main contract
- Support pricing analysis and assessments—ensuring projects remain within budget
- Risk, opportunity & analysis
- Conduct contract risk and opportunity assessments, balancing cost and safety
- subcontractor engagement
- Support subcontractor selection and procurement scheduling for new schemes
- Documentation & reporting
- Prepare and administer commercial documentation, monthly applications, and subcontractor accounts
- Compile valuations and assist with client invoicing and resolving contractual issues
- Cost control & cash flow
- Monitor cost control, reporting, and payment receipts to optimise cash flow

- Participate in project meetings, estimates, and negotiations
- Handle general project administration
- Compliance & safety
- Maintain Health & Safety awareness and comply with company procedures
- Attend college and further education courses as required for apprenticeship development

Requirements
To be successful, you must possess:
- Excellent verbal communication
- Strong numeracy and technical IT skills (proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Project)
- Independent and collaborative work style
- Confident, adaptable communication, with strong organisation skills
- Self-motivation and focus on meeting deadlines
- Evidence of the right to work in the UK
- (Security Vetting clearance necessary due to contract requirements)
