Apprentice Service Engineer – Stability Chambers (Pharmaceutical Sector)

Location: North West England (Field-Based)
Job Type: Full-Time Apprenticeship

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Service Engineer to join our growing field service team, supporting customers across the pharmaceutical, healthcare and laboratory sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity to start a career in engineering, working on industry-leading stability chambers and environmental test equipment used in pharmaceutical research, development and manufacturing.

You will gain hands-on experience servicing, maintaining and troubleshooting specialist temperature and humidity-controlled equipment while working alongside experienced engineers.

As part of your development, you will have the opportunity to undertake and achieve either a Refrigeration & Air Conditioning NVQ or an Electrical Engineering NVQ, fully supported throughout your employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the service, maintenance and repair of pharmaceutical stability chambers and environmental equipment.
  • Support engineers with fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of electrical and refrigeration systems.
  • Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits.
  • Learn calibration and validation principles used within regulated pharmaceutical environments.
  • Complete service reports and maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and professionalism while on customer sites.
  • Follow all health, safety and quality procedures.
  • Travel across the North West and occasionally further afield as required.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong interest in engineering, technology and problem-solving.
  • Good practical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science.

Desirable

  • Engineering-related qualifications or college studies.
  • Previous practical experience through education, hobbies or work experience.
  • Basic understanding of electrical or refrigeration systems.
