Equans is looking for an Apprentice SHEQ Officer to join our team in Wath upon Dearne, South Yorkshire on a 2 year fixed term basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is apprentice wage and benefits package.
General Overview
To become a fully trained SHEQ Advisor commencing with the attainment of the Safety, Health and Environment Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship. The apprentice SHEQ will be office based and expected to travel by their own means within the employers operating area.
What will you deliver?
- To work with the management and delivery teams of the organisation to advise on the statutory health, safety and environmental requirements as they affect the company’s operations.
- Assist to develop, review and check on the implementation of safe systems of work, investigate accidents, analyse data and present findings to the management team.
- Engage with all aspects of the organisation to support a culture that ensures that everyone is able to return home unharmed, every day.
- Understand the moral reasons for good safety, health and environmental working practices, including how a SHE management system works and the range of standards a typical HSE professional would be involved with.
- Learn about the statutory health, safety and environmental legislation and sources of associated guidance and information applicable to the working environment.
- Understand appropriate methods for identifying, evaluating and controlling hazards relevant to the workplace.
- Assist the Senior SHEQ Advisor in delivery of SHEQ project work, including the undertaking of site inspections/audits.
- Ensure that standards and quality of work produced is in accordance with best practice and fit for purpose.

Who are we looking for?
- Must be dependable and attend work/college without exception.
- Minimum of 2 A-levels or equivalent qualification
- Able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken communication
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated
- Able to work with a diverse range of people, both alone and as part of a team
- Confident and able to challenge behaviour that is inconsistent with a positive SHE culture
- Reliable, professional attitude and approach to work
- Demonstrate an eye for detail and commitment to delivering excellent standards
- Computer literate in MS Office
