Please note that there are two vacancies available, one in each of the following locations: Mountain Ash, and Barry.

Job Role:

JG Hale Group Limited, a multi award winning Company delivering major residential construction projects for Local Authorities, Housing Associations and the private building market has an exciting opportunity for Two Apprentice Site Managers to join our busy construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in construction management whilst gaining practical site experience.

As part of the position, you will be given the opportunity to complete your level 4 HNC in Construction Management at Cardiff and the Vale College, provided you meet the eligibility criteria. This will be completed over two years, with one day release each week with the remaining four days based on site.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced Site Managers and construction professionals on live projects. The role will involve learning how construction sites are planned, co-ordinated and managed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. It will grant exposure to a wide range of construction activities and different project stages while providing a structured pathway into a career in site management.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Site Manager with day-to-day site activities.
  • Learning how to co-ordinate subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Supporting health and safety checks, site records and general site administration.
  • Assisting with quality inspections and snagging records.
  • Learning how to read drawings, understand programmers and monitor progress.
  • Attending college one day per week as part of the Management Development Programme.

The successful candidate will have the following experience and skills:

  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Good communication skills and confidence working with others.
  • An interest in construction and site management.
  • Willingness to learn and take responsibility.
  • Good timekeeping and reliability.
  • A full UK driving license
  • You must have good Maths and IT skills and be proficient at using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Five GCSEs at grade C or above, to include Maths, Science and English, BTEC Level 3 Diploma (PPP) or equivalent qualifications in a relevant subject. These are requirements as part of the level 4 HNC in Construction Management and are essential for successful enrolment. You will be based in the South Wales, with one position initially placed in Barry and the other in Mountain Ash area. You will be expected to move across developments, as sites progress. The role is full time role over a fixed two year contract, working 39 hours per week, with 33 days annual leave (pro rata and inclusive of bank holidays).
