Apprentice Sports Coach and Activity Leader
If you are passionate about providing a high-quality, fun, safe and engaging physical activities for Primary School Children across a range of settings, the Apprentice Sports Coach and Activity Leader role at Clubs Zone is for you.
Role Overview
As an Apprentice Sports Coach and Activity Leader you will support the delivery of high-quality, safe, and engaging physical activity and childcare provision across a range of settings, including breakfast clubs, lunch clubs, after-school clubs, wraparound care, PE lessons, and holiday clubs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and delivering structured sports sessions and activities for children of varying ages and abilities, while supporting the delivery of PE lessons.
- Lead and supervise activities across breakfast, lunch, and after-school clubs, as well as support the delivery of holiday camps.
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all children, setting up and maintaining equipment, and promoting participation, teamwork, and positive behaviour.
- Support children with differing needs, follow safeguarding, health and safety, and company policies, while also assisting with basic administrative tasks such as activity planning.
Locations
We work across multiple schools/venues across Leicestershire mainly including Leicester Forest East, Braunstone, Beaumont Leys and Ashby. We will work with you to help accommodate your closest location however it is not always possible.
Requirements
To succeed as an Apprentice Sports Coach and Activity Leader at Clubs Zone, you will be:
- Enthusiastic, energetic and passionate about working with children and promoting physical activity
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Have a positive attitude and a strong sense of responsibility
- Patient, empathetic and have the ability to build rapport with children of different ages and abilities
- Willing to learn, take initiative, and adapt activities to suit different ages and abilities

Course contents
- Successful application of tactics and strategies to empower people from inactive and hard to reach populations to take up an active lifestyle
- Successful application of a range of approaches that bring about changes in attitudes and behaviours within target communities
- Supporting people within target communities to become involved in the preparation, planning and delivery of sport and active lifestyles
- Using local insight and customer-orientated marketing skills to attract high priority groups into existing leisure, parks and sport infrastructure
- Negotiation, lobbying and brokerage skills with local partners across public health, community development and anti social behaviour
- Demonstrate clear and effective communication techniques in order to give/receive information accurately and in a timely and positive manner
- Problem solving and effective decision making with regards the design and implementation of sport and physical activity programmes
- Writing successful funding bids to enable new, different or more opportunities to take place for sport and physical activity
- Managing disruptive behaviour of clients and customers before, during and after activities
- Managing and adapting personal behaviours to ensure provision is inclusive, customer-focused and accessible
- Building partnerships and developing meaningful relationships with local partners and stakeholders in sport and physical activity

Desirable Qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English (grade C/4)
- Maths (grade C/4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
